Planning Student Offers Advice to Peterborough City Council

Thursday, March 17, 2016

Getting involved outside the classroom really makes a difference! Martin Wu, one of our third year Planning students, recently presented to Peterborough City Council a synopsis of urban design ideas generated at a World Town Planning Day event this past January.  Martin volunteered his services for the WTPD event under the direction of Kevin Duguay, a University of Waterloo Planning Alumni and professional planner based in Peterborough.

In preparation for the event, Martin assisted with photos and gathered the planning documents which served as guidelines for the charrette.  Participants divided into four groups which focused on different locations in the community: the George Street Corridor, Market Plaza, Morrow Park and the Canadian Canoe Museum.  Martin noted and gathered the proposed changes and design suggestions generated by the groups and then organized and synthesized them into a presentation capturing the highlights for City Council.

Congratulations Martin for being a great ambassador for our program and for all your hard work in this shining example of the strong connection between our program, the profession, and the community!
