Congratulations to several School of Planning graduate students for having their accomplishments recognized at last week’s 2024 OPPI Conference!
Karsten Brix, Natalie Majda, Amanda Morielli and Michael Ricci were awarded the PlanON Innovative Research Award for their collaborative work in researching affordable housing tools to help better address the diverse housing needs of agriculture and tourism economies in rural Greenbelt communities. Their findings helped them to identify actions that could be taken by planners to add diverse housing to Greenbelt communities.
Emma O’Reilly was awarded the OPPI Opportunity Scholarship for her extensive work within Indigenous communities, with particular focus on the management of Indigenous land-based data by private planning consultants. This scholarship will help support her upcoming research into planning practices within the Territories through an internship in Whitehorse, Yukon, and further her commitment to enhancing inclusivity in Ontario’s planning profession.
