PLAN 100 The Evolution of Planning has a field trip scheduled for Thursday September 21 and Friday September 22, 2023 during respective tutorial times.
During the scheduled tutorial timeslots for this week, students will make short visits to the Kitchener Central Station. Students will be instructed by Dr Brian Doucet and/or one of the TAs and the brief visit to the LRT station providing an opportunity to view a different part of the city and observe key urban planning issues.
Getting to Kitchener Central Station
Students with no class scheduled immediately prior to their tutorial should arrive at the Kitchener Central Station at the regular start time for their PLAN100 tutorial. Students who have a class immediately before their tutorial should board the southbound LRT from the University of Waterloo Station at the time their PLAN100 tutorial begins. Southbound LRTs leave the University of Waterloo every 10 minutes on the xx:x0. Example: your PLAN100 tutorial starts at 9:30. If you do not have a class immediately before this, you should arrive at Kitchener Central Station at 9:30 (the 9:10 southbound from UW will get you there on time). If you have a class that ends immediately before, you should walk to the LRT station as soon as your class is done and take the 9:30 southbound train, arriving at Kitchener Central 12 minutes later.
Getting back to campus
Students with no classes scheduled immediately after their PLAN100 tutorials are expected to remain in downtown Kitchener until the end of class. Northbound LRTs leave Kitchener Central Station every 10 minutes on the xx:x3. Example: if your tutorial ends at 10:20 and you have no class immediately after, you can take the 10:23 train back to campus. If you have a class starting at 10:30, you can take the 10:13 or 10:03. This will give you sufficient time to return to campus in time for a 10:30 class.
For students unable to attend this tutorial, you should try to visit the location on your own time. Instructions will be posted after the tutorials this week, and you should complete the activities before your tutorials on 28/29 September.
