Juewen is exploring how our DNA sequences are being targeted by drug delivery to advance medicine, diagnostics and treatment strategies Waterloo researchers are focused on finding solutions. Among the diversity of exoplanets discovered in the last few decades are a particularly intriguing type called lava worlds. In this month's KPL astronomy talk, Dr. Lisa Dang will share how we find these scorching hot rocky planets, and discuss how we can study them and what you could experience if you were to visit a lava world.

Scientifc excellence is typically assessed through outputs - publications, grands, citations. But excellence is produced by systems: by research culture, team dynamics, design choices and institutional incentives. This talk reframes equity not as an add-on, but as core infrastructure that shapes rigour, validity, innovation and impact. Moving beyond performative EDI requires recalibrating the foundational conditions that determine scientific performance.
