Waterloo welcomes international students with government approval of readiness plan

As of today, The University of Waterloo is on the list of designated learning institutions (DLIs) with approved COVID-19 readiness plans.

As outlined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), this means that international students who also have a valid study permit, or have been approved for a study permit, may be able to enter Canada.

For those students who must travel to Canada to study or work, we have resources available to support you:

• COVID-19 travel and quarantine checklist for step-by-step information about traveling to Canada and making a quarantine plan.
• Waterloo student quarantine package to help enrolled students who must travel to Canada with their mandatory 14-day quarantine.
• Virtual drop-in sessions, hangouts, and the International Peer Community to connect with peers before, during, and after quarantine.
• Free online appointments with licensed immigration consultants to answer questions about study permits and travel exemptions and restrictions.
• Campus Housing spaces available for Winter 2021 (note that students will not be able to move into residences until after completing the 14-day quarantine elsewhere).
