A Joyful Noise
Vaiva Dzemionas, BSW student, loves music. She’s been playing since she was five years old and was trained in voice as a teen. Vaiva is also a talented composer and enjoys combining her musical skills to create beautiful melodies.

Teferi's return from Ethiopia
St. Paul’s economics professor Teferi Mergo says, “I grew up in Ethiopia during a very turbulent time, surrounded by serious economic hardships and socio-political upheaval.” This experience sparked his interest in development economics, a subject he teaches as an assistant professor at the University of Waterloo, jointly appointed at St Paul’s and in the Economics Department.

The Art in the Halls
The annual Blackforest Coffeehouse has long been a musical tradition at St. Paul’s. But last year, the organizers decided to add an art gallery to the event—and were delighted to discover that not only is St. Paul’s home to many talented musicians but also to a wide variety of gifted visual artists.

Opening doors

The Waterloo Indigenous Student Centre at St. Paul’s opened in 2012, providing a welcome space for the sharing of Indigenous knowledge, culturally relevant information and support services for all members of the University of Waterloo community, including Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, staff, and faculty.
