2021 Lecturers Appreciation Award

Wednesday, June 23, 2021

The Lecturers Committee wishes to congratulate its recipients of the 2021 Lecturers Appreciation Award, Aimée Morrison and Jay Dolmage of the FAUW Equity Committee. About the award, the Lecturers Committee says:

"The award is in recognition of their contributions to Lecturer Committee projects and initiatives during the academic year of 2020-21 and their commitment to improving the working conditions of lecturers at UWaterloo. In particular, we wish to recognize their contributions to our advocacy work on the revised Policy 14 [Pregnancy and Parental Leaves (including Adoption), and the Return to Work] and for highlighting the inequitable access to benefits for newly hired definite-term lecturers. Under Jay Dolmage’s chairing role, the FAUW Equity Committee has met regularly with the Lecturers Committee to discuss mutual areas of concern. This has included working jointly on the overall status of our standing committees within FAUW and comparison with other institutions. Recent joint collaborations have highlighted the overrepresentation of lecturers identified as true and potential salary anomalies and exploring starting salaries, gender, and racial gaps as potential underlying drivers of salary inequities for lecturers. Congratulations and thank you to Aimée and Jay!"
