The Faculty Association invites nominations for directors of the board—one member elected by and from the members of each of the six Faculties of the University—for the term July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2020.
The role of the Board of Directors
The Board oversees all FAUW functions, including policy development, salary negotiations, the protection of member rights, and events and services for members.
Directors are expected to stay current on issues before the Board, and to attend biweekly Board meetings on Thursday afternoons from September through June and 4–6 other FAUW meetings or events per year. Typically, a board member will also assume a leadership role on a particular matter within the Board mandate that is of personal interest, which Faculty members might find to be a desirable way to fill their service requirement. The total time commitment for a new Board member is in the range of 2-3 hours per week for the September–June period. Learn more about being a Board member.
All voting members of the Faculty Association are eligible to run. Voting members are those regular and non-regular faculty and professional librarians who have opted in to FAUW membership. Learn more about becoming a member of FAUW.
The Faculty Association is strongly committed to representing the interests and concerns of its diverse constituency and membership. We especially encourage those who would contribute to the diversification of the association’s leadership to run.
Submitting a nomination
Nomination forms are available on the FAUW website. Forms need to be signed by the candidate and three additional voting members, and submitted to the Faculty Association office (MC 4001) no later than 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, along with a 250-word candidate statement.
Online polls will be open March 21 through April 3. Members will vote on the candidates for their Faculty. The results will be announced at the FAUW Spring General Meeting on April 5 (12–2 p.m. in QNC 2502).
