Today FAUW released a survey to our Lecturer members, seeking their feedback to improve terms of employment and working conditions for all Lecturers.
Policy 76 covers appointments and terms of employment for faculty members. This policy is currently undergoing significant revisions, and fundamental changes in the Lecturer position are expected.

This is the second newsletter/update for the academic year. It will be shorter than last time: mainly notices and updates. And yes, I do understand that the last one was not really a blog. Until we get our website updated, this was, however, a place of convenience for my lengthy epistle.

The University of Waterloo’s Professor Susan M. Shaw has won a 2011 Woman of Distinction Award from the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA).
The award, sponsored by OCUFA’s Status of Women Committee, recognizes women who have improved the lives and working conditions of academic women and, by extension, their colleagues, families, and friends.

As you all know by now, we have signed a 5-year salary settlement with scale increases of 0, 0, 3, 3, and 3 percent for the period 1 May 2010 to 30 April 2015. The annual merit increases will be processed as usual in all five years.
