Strategic plan priority C: Culture of health and well-being

The Faculty is committed to championing a comprehensive approach to health, well-being and determinants thereof, beginning with our students, staff and faculty, and extending to communities both on- and off-campus.

Goal 1: Deliver an exceptional experience that allows everyone to flourish and that reinforces a sense of belonging

To achieve this goal, we will pursue these objectives:

  • Optimize communal space for community-building
  • Investigate what a sense of belonging means for different groups and strengthen the culture of health and well-being

Goal 2: Create an environment in which diversity and inclusion are the norm

To achieve this goal, we will pursue these objectives:

  • Assess our current hiring processes to consider if there are any barriers to diversity and inclusivity
  • Improve the accessibility of our buildings
  • Create mechanisms to recognize needs and support success among our diverse faculty, staff and students
  • Investigate options for healthy, affordable food services

Goal 3: Learn as a Faculty how to appropriately build Indigeneity into our mission

To achieve this goal, we will pursue these objectives:

  • Create new opportunities for Indigenous faculty, such as the creation of new Endowed Chair(s)
  • Enhance Indigenous student recruitment and outreach
  • Support decolonization/cultural education opportunities for faculty, staff and students
  • Foster an environment that invites and respects Indigenous ways of knowing

Goal 4: Create and sustain an environment that supports work-life balance

To achieve this goal, we will pursue these objectives:

  • Investigate what balance means to staff, faculty and students
  • Create infrastructure, programs and resources that are sustainable and make wellness choices easier
