The Faculty is committed to championing a comprehensive approach to health, well-being and determinants thereof, beginning with our students, staff and faculty, and extending to communities both on- and off-campus.
Goal 1: Deliver an exceptional experience that allows everyone to flourish and that reinforces a sense of belonging
To achieve this goal, we will pursue these objectives:
- Optimize communal space for community-building
- Investigate what a sense of belonging means for different groups and strengthen the culture of health and well-being
Goal 2: Create an environment in which diversity and inclusion are the norm
To achieve this goal, we will pursue these objectives:
- Assess our current hiring processes to consider if there are any barriers to diversity and inclusivity
- Improve the accessibility of our buildings
- Create mechanisms to recognize needs and support success among our diverse faculty, staff and students
- Investigate options for healthy, affordable food services
Goal 3: Learn as a Faculty how to appropriately build Indigeneity into our mission
To achieve this goal, we will pursue these objectives:
- Create new opportunities for Indigenous faculty, such as the creation of new Endowed Chair(s)
- Enhance Indigenous student recruitment and outreach
- Support decolonization/cultural education opportunities for faculty, staff and students
- Foster an environment that invites and respects Indigenous ways of knowing
Goal 4: Create and sustain an environment that supports work-life balance
To achieve this goal, we will pursue these objectives:
- Investigate what balance means to staff, faculty and students
- Create infrastructure, programs and resources that are sustainable and make wellness choices easier
