Velocity Fund Finals: Math highlights!
The Velocity Fund is a non-equity grant program for startups. Each year Velocity produces three pitch competition events where the Velocity Fund awards at least $115,000 in money to winners. To read more about the Velocity Fund Finals, please visit their website.

Putnam Results 2014
The University of Waterloo team did extremely well in the 2014 Putnam Competition, finishing in 4th place.

Award for Distinction in Teaching - 2014 winners
Congratulations to Professors Penny Haxell and Javid Ali, winners of the 2014 Faculty of Mathematics Award for Distinction in Teaching!
Professor Haxell has received consistent applause from her peers and students for not only being an effective instructor with high standards but, for being a teacher that inspires enthusiasm for the material she teaches. Her lighthearted nature and logical, straightforward manner have made her a favourite among students.
