F19 Concept $5K Finals

Let's show our support for the two teams that include Math students in the Concept $5K Finals (previously known as the Velocity Fund Finals $5K).

The student entrepreneurs will pitch live for their share of $20K in funding. Each competitor has just three minutes to pitch their startup idea to a panel of judges.

The three teams from Math include:

On Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19, 2019, the first Waterloo Student Conference in Statistics, Actuarial Science, and Finance took place.  While this event was hosted by the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, it was the students who brought it to life.  This two-day conference was organized by students, for students.

Four teams of programmers from the University competed on October 26 at the Association for Computing Machinery regional International Collegiate Programming Competition (ICPC). One of the teams was the only one to complete all 11 problems within the five-hour time limit, earning them first place. The other three teams placed second, third and fifth.

Women in Math Lean in Circle for Math Students

WiM is excited to host the first lean-in circle event of the semester on Tuesday, November 5. Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to come and join the conversation!

The lean-in circle events are an opportunity for female students to share experiences and get advice on how to navigate the school and workplace from other women.
