Jeremy Hartmann

Jeremy Hartmann recently defended his PhD dissertation in the Cheriton School of Computer Science, where he worked with the Human Computer Interaction Lab under the supervision of professor Daniel Vogel.

Now, Hartmann has launched a new venture, which offers virtual reality streaming services to gamers as well as a virtual club house.

The Faculty of Mathematics welcomes the 2022 Waterloo.AI and Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) joint workshop on “Artificial Intelligence for Science & Engineering.”

The three-day virtual workshop runs from January 18 to 20 and features several researchers affiliated with the Faculty of Mathematics.

Two researchers in the Cheriton School of Computer Science are part of a research team that was recently awarded $24 million CAD by Canada’s New Frontiers in Research Fund as part of the BIOSCAN project, which aims to catalogue biodiversity.

A few years ago, one of Trisha Kothari’s sisters asked their aging grandmother a thought-provoking question: “If you were reborn into our generation, what would you do with your life?”

Their grandmother, Barji, who had grown up in India at a time when women had few rights and even fewer opportunities, wasted no time answering.

“Oh, I’d definitely not get married. I would study and start a business,” she told her.
