Bridging borders for better care

Dr. Tejal Patel, clinical associate professor at Waterloo Pharmacy co-hosted an international aging symposium at the School to address and improve the unique challenges aging adults face in managing medications safely.

Despite an overall decline in prescribed opioid use in Canada over the past decade, a recent study by researchers from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo, found that people in poorer areas receive three times the prescriptions for opioids than those in wealthier areas.  

Kayla Genereux (Rx2026) shares how she shaped her co-op experiences to align with her long-term ambitions of working in her hometown in Northern Ontario after completing her PharmD at the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy.
