Spring 2022 Pragma Council Conference

Wednesday, May 11, 2022 (all day)

Spring 2022 Pragma Council Conference titled:

"We've Declared a "Climate Emergency". Now what?

Pramgma Invitation Poster
We will spend the day learning, discussing and debating what actually happens 'on the ground’ once a municipality declares a climate emergency. To what extent have these declarations catalyzed climate action in our cities either through proactive plans, measurement and evaluation of impacts, emissions, and adaptations, or the broader process of actionable change?  The morning features speakers like Jason Thistlethwaite, Rebecca Saari from the University of Waterloo and Dustin Carey from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

In the afternoon, we will have panel discussions on municipal and development perspectives with a fantastic group of professionals including Jeanhy Shim – President of the Housing Lab, Mike Dean: Senior Climate Change & Energy Planner at Town of Halton Hills, and Doug Tarry, President of Doug Tarry Homes.   Finally, University of Waterloo Professor, IPCC 6th Assessment Report chapter author, and Executive Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change - Sarah Burch will deliver a keynote talk as part of our networking dinner event.

Event is by invitation only - Please contact Angie Hildebrand for more information.
