Daniel Recchia awarded $2,500 for 3D projection mapping design.

Audiences were in for a glowing treat at this year’s Christie Design Awards, a competition offering third-year Global Business and Digital Arts students access to industry mentorship and leading-edge technology in interactive display.

Thursday evening saw the launch of THEMUSEUM’s newest exhibit, INTERACTION. Co-currated by Jane Tingley, Assistant Professor in Hybrid Media at the Stratford Campus, the exhibit presents the work of fourteen Canadian artists and artist groups who design for public participation as a central strategy. Each piece uses technology to engage the viewer, encouraging active participation over passive consumption, provoking critical thought about our digital presence and possible futures.

The University of Waterloo Stratford Campus warmly welcomed over 200 students on Thursday, with an afternoon of one-of-a-kind planned orientation activities that were generously supported by the businesses of Downtown Stratford.

Global Business and Digital Arts graduate, Ashna Mankotia delivered a valedictory address as part of the University of Waterloo’s 114th convocation last week. The GBDA class of 2017 was the second cohort from the Stratford-based program to graduate and among the 4818 undergraduate degrees awarded university wide.

The five university students behind a project called Recreate didn't expect to win a digital arts project showcase.

"Absolutely not," said Pedja Ristic, who spoke on behalf of his group.

Design students at the University of Waterloo Stratford Campus had the chance to hear from their colleagues who had graduated and gone on to work in the field on Saturday.
