Applied Mathematics Graduate Student Wins Faculty Three-Minute Thesis Competition

Applied Mathematics Master’s student Demetri Pananos has won the 2016 Faculty of Mathematics Three-Minute Thesis heat.

In this competition, students have three minutes and one slide to explain the significance of their thesis research to a non-specialist audience. Demetri’s talk was titled “Early Warning Signals of Vaccine Scares”. Demetri is the third Applied Math graduate student to make the finals in the last four years.

Demetri will represent the Faculty of Mathematics at the university-wide competition to be held on Thursday, March 31. More details about the Three-Minute Thesis competition can be found at https://uwaterloo.ca/three-minute-thesis/ .
