Roy Brouwer wins Arts Award for Excellence in Research

Roy Brouwer is one of four recipients of the 2021 Arts Award for Excellence in Research. Started in 2012, these awards recognize exceptional contributions made by faculty and staff at the University of Waterloo. 

Professor Brouwer's research and work extends far beyond department boundaries. He is the Executive Director of the Water Institute, ranked among the top water research institutions in the world, a visiting professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology in Zürich, and editior-in-chief of the Water Resources and Economics journal.

In his role as excutive director of the Water Institute and through his own research, Roy embodies the ideals of the University of Waterloo: with a focus on environmental economics, his work and contributions are highly interdisciplinary, international, and addresses real and pressing problems relevant to societies and life on the planet.
