What? Do you want to hear what it is like to work in Canada as an international graduate student? Attend this Q&A session and get all your questions answered by senior graduate students and alumni. Topics that will be covered include: finding work as an international student, networking, interviews, communication etiquette, and success on the job.

In consultation with the Faculty Associate Deans and the Faculty Administrative Assistants, and in an effort to provide additional support to our students, we will be having three presentation/Q&A “workshops”. The focus of these sessions will be academic in nature and are meant to act as a supplement to what your Faculty and departments may already be offering in terms of one-on-one support for your prospective scholarship applicants. 

In this interactive half—day workshop, you‘ll discuss the value of making connections, learn effective networking strategies and develop a “next steps” action plan. You‘ll also improve your interview performance by translating academic language to industry language, applying strategies for answering interview questions and evaluating the effectiveness of responses to interview questions.

What? Through this interactive workshop, you’ll become better prepared for a campus interview. In addition to learning about a typical campus interview schedule, you’ll learn to analyze interview questions and evaluate and develop effective responses to these questions.

You’re about to finish your course work or comprehensive exams and have started to think about writing your thesis or dissertation. Where do you begin?

This full-day workshop, sponsored by GRADventure, will guide early stage graduate students through some of the first phases of planning and writing a thesis or dissertation.

Waterloo’s Writing and Communication Centre is currently accepting applications for Dissertation Boot Camp. This online program, which is designed to help dissertation and thesis writers to get a jump start on their writing goals, runs Monday, December 10^th to Thursday, December 13th from 9am to 4pm each day.

Waterloo’s Writing and Communication Centre is currently accepting applications for Dissertation Boot Camp. This sustained program, which is designed to help dissertation and thesis writers to get a jump start on their writing goals, runs every Monday from January 21^st to March 4^th, from 9:00am to 12:30pm.

The GSPA coordinates a professional development credentialing program for students. Within this program students create an IDP and can tailor their professional development to their path of interest.
