The Big E and Special K contests (PDF) were held on Saturday, November 3, 2012. These are mathematics contests for undergraduate University of Waterloo students.

The Special K contest is for first year students and the Big E contest is for upper year students. Both contests consist of six problems, and complete written solutions are required.

The University of Waterloo was selected to recruit a Canada Excellence Research Chair in the area of Security and Privacy for the New Digital Economy.

2012 Small c Mathematics Competition

On Friday, September 21, over 400 first and second year University of Waterloo students wrote the 12th annual Small c Mathematics Competition (PDF). It is a multiple-choice contest based largely on high-school mathematics.

The Fong Education Foundation Limited has established the Industrial Mathematics Research Fund and the Fong Computational Mathematics Graduate Award at the University of Waterloo.

Mr. Eddie Fong graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1980 with a BMath (Actuarial Science/Computer Science) degree. Since graduating, Mr. Fong has enjoyed an extremely successful career and is pleased to support his alma mater.
