Coastal erosion and flooding is a global problem that is a result of both human activity and natural processes. It poses a threat to personal property, sensitive ecosystems and critical infrastructure. Dr. Houser will talk about high water levels and coastal flooding, as well as changes in lake ice and storm activity and how those changes will affect coastlines in the future. Dr. Houser will also discuss beach safety issues in the Great Lakes, with a focus on rip currents, drownings and the need to improve beach safety.
