Recognizing excellence

Each year, we come together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our student award recipients from years one to four. These awards recognize dedication, perseverance, and excellence in academics. This year, we proudly honoured over 150 exceptional students whose hard work and leadership continue to strengthen our Science community.

Science Distinguished Alumni of Honour Award:

This award is presented to Science students in their fourth year according to academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and demonstrated leadership.

Schulich Leader Scholarship:

This award is provided by the Schulich Foundation and goes to entrepreneurial-minded high school graduates enrolling in a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) program at 20 partner universities across Canada, including the University of Waterloo.

Noah Sonser

Shiloh Brawn Award for Women in Physics:

This award is presented annually to a full-time female undergraduate student in the Department of Physics & Astronomy. Selection is based on academic achievement and extracurricular involvement. In particular, this award recognizes students making an effort to advance women in science (e.g., involvement in FemPhys Club) and/or who have completed an Undergraduate Research Assistantship. This fund is made possible by a donation from the Brawn family in honour of their daughter and to encourage women to pursue an education in STEM.

Michelle Kao

Faculty of Science Foundation G.F. Atkinson Citizenship Award:

This award is also provided by the Faculty of Science Foundation. This award recognizes students who have made outstanding contributions that enhance the quality of life for students in Science at the University of Waterloo or within the Waterloo community.

Nayla Qureshi

Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) Undergraduate Science Scholarship:

This annual award is provided to a full-time student enrolled in Year Three or Four of any program in the Faculty of Science to a student who demonstrates interest in the nuclear sector as shown through their extracurricular involvement, research projects, co-op work term and special projects.
