Congratulations to Juewen Liu (Chemistry), Linda Nazar (Chemistry), and Will Percival (Physics & Astronomy and the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics) for representing Science and the university of this list. Liu and Percival are both marking their second appearance on the list, while Nazar has been on the list nine out of the last 10 years. Their work clearly resonates with the research community and their findings have inspired others to push boundaries and explore what’s next in their own research.
Nyhenflore Delva’s interest in sustainable chemistry began during her undergraduate studies as she explored ways to mitigate negative environmental impacts. She learned that adopting more sustainable industrial chemical processing could provide many benefits.
Vasily Panferov, a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Chemistry, is one of four recent recipients of the AMTD Waterloo Global Talent Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Last week, Mila Abaeva and Justin Shmordok, 4th year PhD candidates in the Department of Chemistry, visited and connected with student-run chemistry societies of four Atlantic Canada universities.
Ryan Moreira received the 2023 PhD Alumni Gold Medal for Outstanding Academic Performance in a PhD Program at Fall convocation.
Ryan is a former PhD student of Professor Scott Taylor in the Department of Chemistry.
Congratulations, Ryan!
When talking with Justin Shmordok, currently pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry (PhD) degree, he shared that he might not have discovered his love for research without the help of Waterloo’s co-operative education program during his undergraduate degree.
The Chemistry Graduate Student Society (CGSS) and Chem Club joined forces on June 14th to put on a bake sale to raise funds for Spectrum, Waterloo Region’s Rainbow Community Space.
Dr. Jonathan Baugh, a professor in the Department of Chemistry and at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC), and E. Annelise Bergeron, a doctoral student from the Department of Physics and Astronomy, are one step closer to developing the materials needed for future quantum devices.
Waterloo quantum scientists are one step closer to developing the materials needed for future quantum devices. They have discovered a method for growing crystalline structures that will act as platforms for robust quantum computing applications.
