Program: Biomedical Sciences

Year: 3

Stream of study: Regular

Pronouns: She/Her

Career goal: Medicine

How I get involved: I'm currently a marketing executive for the UW Neuroscience Association and Vice President of Medicine4Youth (soon to be affiliated with WUSA ;)). I'm also a teaching assistant for BIOL 201 (Human Anatomy) this term, and I recently joined Velocity's AgeTech Innovation Challenge to help design a creative solution that improves the lives of aging populations!

Why I love my program

I love my program because it not only helps me get the prerequisites for most professional schools, but it also gives me enough elective space to explore my interests – for instance, I took a CS course last year because I wanted to know more about computers! This term, I'm taking a kinesiology course about neurological disorders because I've always been fascinated by the nervous system. I also appreciate how the labs complement the lectures very nicely, so I'm able to reinforce my theoretical knowledge with engaging hands-on activities.

Why University of Waterloo?

I’ve actually lived here all my life, so Waterloo holds a special place in my heart. I also worked for UWaterloo’s Faculty of Engineering during my high school co-op, and it was so fun walking among the university students, seeing first-hand what life would be like as a student here. What really stood out to me was how close-knit the community felt, and although I wasn’t interested in Engineering, I knew there was nowhere else I’d rather be. :)
