Career goal: I'm not quite sure yet! I'd like to explore many different chemistry career options through co-op and other means and try to decide what interests me the most. I have been interested in maybe looking into environmental/geochemistry though.
How I get involved: Honestly, I didn't get involved around campus much during my first year. I'd like to change this in my second year though and being a Science Ambassador is a great way to start!
Why I love my program
I find chemistry very interesting since by studying you can learn so much about how our world works on all levels. At Waterloo, all of the chemistry (and science as a whole) professors, advisors and TAs are welcoming, helpful and understanding. I've also found that as a somewhat smaller program, it isn't hard to get to know your peers and form a community.
Why University of Waterloo?
A big factor was co-op. Since I wasn't, and still am not sure what I'd like to do, Waterloo's co-op program gives me the opportunity to be exposed to different branches of my field and types of workplaces. Also, many of my closest friends were going here as well so even though I made new friends too, I figured it would be nice to not lose touch with my old ones and have a group of people to hang out with from the get-go.
