Program: Earth Sciences, Geology Specialization, Chemistry Minor
Year: 4 (5th year with co-op)
Stream of study: Co-op
Pronouns: She/Her
Career goal: If you had asked me in first year I would have said no idea! Now that I'm in my 4th year and have completed my co-op terms I've found an interest in environmental geochemistry, specifically how it relates to water quality at mine sites. I hope to go into consulting to help solve environmental geochemistry problems in remote locations.
How I get involved: I have been a Vice President for the Warriors Artistic Swimming team since second year. I've also been a teaching assistant for Earth 231 (Mineralogy). More recently, I got involved with the Waterloo Science Endowment Fund (WatSEF) and Earth and Environmental Science teaching planning group to help make UWaterloo a better place for future students!
Why I love my program
I'm probably like most when I say that I love that my program gets me outside. Beyond that I have found that there are so many aspects of Earth Sciences I never considered when I started university. I have been able to explore topics that interest me and choose a variety of courses and co-ops to support my learning.
Why University of Waterloo?
Work Experience! Location! Flexibility! I initially chose Waterloo because it was close to home, but program-specific courses, my co-ops, and department research groups have definitely solidified my choice. There are an incredible amount of opportunities to tailor your program and get applicable experience outside the classroom too!
