Preksha - Science and Aviation

Science Ambassador
Preksha t-rex

Program: Honours Science and Aviation, Chemistry Minor

Year: 3

Stream of study: Regular

Pronouns: She/Her

Career goal: My end goal is to become a commercial airline pilot, but after graduation I would probably like to start off as a flight instructor.

How I get involved: In my first year, I started getting involved with Campus Housing as a Residence Ambassador, and joined the UW Aviation Society as a general member and a volunteer for the Annual Aviation Gala. This year, I was also a Science Orientation Leader for our first in-person orientation in 3 years! Throughout the year, I am super excited to be a part of both the Science Ambassador team and the Off Campus Community as an OCC Don. In the future, I really want to participate in other opportunities such as becoming a Teaching Assistant, a Residence Life Don, and a UW Aviation Society Executive.

Why I love my program

This program has everything that I was looking for! I get to pursue my passion for science and aviation - both of the subjects I absolutely adore - without having to sacrifice one for the other. The other big plus that I realized after entering my first year in this program is the tight-knit and friendly community that there is. I get to spend time with peers who are equally passionate and motivated, which constantly pushes me to give my 110% everyday. It couldn't have gotten any better than this!

Why University of Waterloo?

The most compelling factor that pushed me to choose the University of Waterloo is that it is the only university that offers this unique program where I can study science while simultaneously doing my flight training, and when I graduated I get a degree and my Comercial Pilot's License. Moreover, the community here is so welcoming and supportive that you will always find support systems to help you succeed.
