Program: Materials and Nanosciences
Year: 4
Stream of study: Co-op
Pronouns: She/Her
Career goal: I’m still exploring the amazing opportunities and industries out there, but would love to work in a project-based role, streamlining and improving different processes!
How I get involved: During my first year, I joined many science clubs to learn new skills and meet different people! This helped me get out of my comfort zone and discover other clubs organizations such as being the Marketing Exec on our Warrior Home Design Team that focuses on sustainability, and am in charge of External Affairs with UW Esports! Being apart of such a diverse amount of extra curriculars has been an amazing experience learning from peers and having unique experiences like representing UW at OUF!
Why I love my program
I love this program as many things that are taught can be applied to daily life because...everything’s made of materials! This opens up the many opportunities that are available after undergrad and many co-op experiences that you'll find relatable to your studies. It's a great combination of my favourite courses, Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics with many lab opportunities that reflect what we learn or analyzing daily substances like coffee.
Why University of Waterloo?
The first thing that attracted me to Waterloo was their amazing co-op program! I was super excited to do a variety of co-op placements, getting the hands-on experience, and Waterloo’s program seemed like the best fit for me. As someone who's still exploring future career opportunities, the co-op program opened many new opportunities as I get to branch out and try different roles I may have never thought of before! Upon learning more about the school and attending open houses, I fell in love with the amazing campus, all the greenery and amazing environment surrounding us as well as the beautiful study areas.
