Call for Members: Sustainable Transportation Planning Group

The UWSA Appointments Committee is seeking applications for a staff representative on the new Sustainable Transportation Planning Group. The group will advise on the development of a Sustainable Transportation Plan, which will cover many aspects of campus transportation, including fleet, commuting, and shuttle service.

Call for Members: Dean of Math Nominating Committee

The UWSA Appointments Committee is seeking one staff representative to help select the next dean of the Faculty of Mathematics.

Term: July 1 through April 2025
Deadline: June 21, 2024

The Vice-President, Academic & Provost is forming a nominating committee under Policy 45 to search for the next Dean of Math. In addition to a staff member elected by and from among staff in the Faculty, the policy calls for one staff member “appointed by the Staff Association, normally from the Faculty concerned.”

Pride flag stickers now available in W Print

Two-spirit progress pride flag

In the summer of 2023, the Faculty Association and Staff Association teamed up to distribute more than 5,000 pride flag stickers to employees, with the hope that thousands of pride stickers displayed all over our four campuses would help send the message that all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community belong at Waterloo.

Call for Members: Contract Staff Working Group

The UWSA Operations Team (the three employees and presidents) is creating a Contract Staff Working Group to identify ways in which the UWSA can improve opportunities and services for contract staff within the UWSA and help staff in temporary appointments feel safe, empowered to grow, and able to thrive at work.

We are seeking at least six staff members to participate in the working group, including one to serve as chair; our aim is that at least five will be staff on temporary appointments from different areas of the University.

All staff with an assigned USG and temporary contract will be considered, regardless of contract end date or membership in the UWSA.
