Math Faculty Awards Ceremony 2015

A brief reception will begin at 5:30 pm followed by dinner at 6:00 pm.

At the ceremony, we will honour students who have established outstanding academic records in a number of areas. During the evening, we will honour first year entrance award winners, upper-year Senate Scholarship winners, students who have done well in university competitions, and recipients of numerous one-time awards.

iGEM 2015 Open House

The Waterloo International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) team is always looking for smart and passionate people to share our love for synthetic biology, applied math, and engineering, and now we're recruiting new members for the 2015 team!

The iGEM 2015 Open House is an information session where interested students can come find out about the Waterloo iGEM team. We'll talk about what we've done, what we're excited for in the upcoming year, how you can get involved, and what we're looking for in new team members.

Graduate Studies Information Session Winter 2015

Second, third and fourth-year undergraduate students are invited to come out and learn more about graduate studies in Faculty of Mathematics.

There will be an overview of Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Mathematics including a brief description from:

  • Applied Mathematics
  • Combinatorics & Optimization
  • Computational Mathematics
  • Computer Science
  • Pure Mathematics
  • Statistics & Actuarial Science

Talk with departmental representatives and ask important questions.

Earlier today, the Waterloo Black team (Tyson Andre, Benoit Maurin, Anton Raichuk) finished first in the University of Chicago Invitational Programming Contest. The contest brought together all 22 Canadian and U.S. teams that have qualified for the World Finals of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest to be held May 14 to 18 in Warsaw, Poland. Waterloo solved nine problems, beating runners-up Harvard, Stanford, and Princeton. Alberta finished eighth, UBC 10th and Toronto 13th.
