Award criteria

The Faculty of Science established the Young Alumni Award to honour and recognize significant service, contribution and achievements of young alumni. This award is bestowed upon alumni who demonstrate significant contribution(s) in one or more of the following areas:

  • Professional or Academic Achievement: recognizes the accomplishments of Waterloo Science alumni
  • Contributions to Community: recognizes the accomplishments of Waterloo Science alumni in volunteer leadership, humanitarian endeavours and community and public service

Awards selection committee membership: Dean of the Faculty of Science, a representative from each department, and the Director of Advancement. Please note that University of Waterloo employees, current or past, are ineligible for award consideration.

The nominees must hold UW Science undergraduate and/or graduate degree(s). Only those nominees who are 40 years of age or younger will be considered.

Nomination process

The Faculty of Science welcomes nominations for the Young Alumni Award from alumni, students, staff, retirees and members of the public.

To nominate an alumnus for the Young Alumni Award, a short online nomination form must be completed for an individual to be considered.

Nomination deadline: April 30.
