A Re-Run of Fusion Conference Highlights and Celebrating 20 Years!

The Fusion Conference, an annual case competition hosted at the University of Waterloo, has been fostering interdisciplinary collaboration since 2004. For two decades, this student-organized conference has been at the forefront of addressing cutting-edge topics and preparing delegates for leadership roles in our rapidly changing world.  

Toronto was buzzing as the University of Waterloo’s Science and Business Program made a big splash at the 2024 Collision Conference, held from June 24-27. Collision, one of North America’s premier tech gatherings, brought together the best and brightest in tech, startups, and innovation.

This week, students and faculty in the Department of Biology gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of their colleagues at the 2024 Biology Awards.

Two co-op students from the Faculty of Science have made a big impact during a recent work term at the SickKids Research Institute. Murto Hilali and Kritika Grover are using AI as a tool to understand cerebral palsy — and their efforts have earned them recognition as contributing authors in an upcoming paper published in Nature Genetics. 

While many students use the holiday closure to sit back and relax, Physics and Astronomy student Sierra Jess used her time to reach new heights on an exciting adventure in East Africa before her final term at the University of Waterloo.  

The Science and Business program at hit all the right notes as it celebrated its achievements with a dazzling showcase, featuring musical performances by The WaterBoys and AJ Mbobi. The event, held at Federation Hall, served as both a tribute to the program's successes and a farewell to its graduating students.

The Student Leadership Banquet celebrated our brilliant Science students from years one to four for their excellence and leadership in our vibrant academic community.

In the realm of academic achievement, resilience and perseverance are the cornerstones upon which success is built. Ariana and Ibraheem, two exceptional Science and Business students, have recently been honoured with prestigious awards that recognize their unwavering dedication and determination. 

Ravicha Ravinthiran, a fourth-year Science and Business student, recaps her journey with co-op and finding full-time employment as a Product Manager. She also shares her advice on the process of finding a job.

Embarking on a career in consulting demands a unique set of skills, and mastering the art of case interviews is a pivotal step in that journey. Recently, the team at WatSolve Consulting Group had the privilege of delving into the complexities of casing, guided by the experienced hand of Sylvia, a seasoned professional at KPMG.
