2010 Special Initiatives Fund Award

The Special Initiatives Fund (SIF) was created in 2009 by the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Staff Compensation (PACSC) for a two-year trial period. With a total budget of approximately $65,000 in annual funding, it is designed to support special projects suggested by staff in the university support group. 20 jobs cut at McMaster – so far

McMaster University cut 20 jobs last week, and has confirmed that 30-70 more will be lost mainly from service areas. This appears to be the first steps they’re taking to battle a projected $40 million deficit. Full Story. They’re trying to make the cuts without damaging the quality of education and research – that’s why the focus of the cuts is mainly from service areas.
