Welcome home!

Did you miss the 100% first-year guarantee for residence? Apply to our New Student Residence Application to be next in line for available rooms.

How does it work?

If students do not accept their first-year guarantee residence contract, these rooms become vacant and are offered to students who apply through the New Student Residence Application, starting in July. Offers are sent as spaces open up throughout the summer, so an offer of residence is not guaranteed, and we do not have a specific date for when offers will go out. Some offers will include being placed in a temporary double room in REV (Ron Eydt Village), then transitioned to a permanent as vacancies happen after move-in weekend.

Steps

Step 1: Apply to the New Student Residence Application - Click the button below to apply to the New Student Residence Application. You'll have the opportunity to share your room type preferences on this form. Note that this application looks slightly different than the application that was available before June 9.

Step 2: Watch your inbox - Check your @uwaterloo.ca email regularly as that's where your contract and room assignment will be sent if a room becomes available. Once students are given access to UWaterloo emails in late June, that is the default email we will be using to send all residence communications to. Until late June, we'll use the email address on file from your OUAC application.

Step 3: Accept your contract - If you are sent an offer (which would be sent to your UWaterloo email), accept your contract and pay the $500.00 non-refundable deposit before the expiry date.

Note: if you've already accepted an offer to another on-campus residence (e.g., one of the University Colleges), do not accept your offer for Campus Housing or you'll be expected to pay full fees for both residences!

Step 4: You're in - Congratulations! You're about to have a great living experience with Campus Housing!

Frequently Asked Questions

When and how will I receive an offer?

Room assignments will be sent out as rooms become available, starting in July. They will be sent based on your date and time of application and continued expression of interest for a residence offer (throughout the summer you will receive emails from us asking if you are still interested; please keep an eye out for these emails as your response will help us get offers out quicker to students who are still looking to live in Campus Housing).

Your waitlist position isn't viewable and doesn't necessarily reflect your likelihood of receiving an offer. Watch your UWaterloo email over the summer for updates on availability.

Can I request a roommate?

The roommate request option was only available to students who applied by the June 8 residence guarantee deadline. Students who missed this deadline are unable to request a roommate, as we can't guarantee a double room or suite with two vacant beds will be available for students to live with a requested roommate.

What room will I be assigned?

Initial offers will be for temporary double rooms in REV (Ron Eydt Village). After move-in weekend, as permanent rooms become available, you'll be transitioned into your long-term assignment.

How do I set up or check my @UWaterloo email?

You will receive an email late June about setting up your UWaterloo email address. Can't find the email? Check out www.uwaterloo.ca/email for set-up instructions. You will not be able to set up your email until late June.

What if I don't like my room assignment?

When you receive a room assignment offer, this is the only space that we have available and we will not be able to switch it for another. If you wish to live with Campus Housing and secure housing for the fall, you should accept the offer provided to you.

Room changes are not permitted before move-in as room assignments are offered based on availability. You will be sent an assignment based on the preferences you indicated on the New Student Residence Application and the rooms that are available at the time your application is processed.
