Two of the four recipients of the 2013 Amit & Meena Chakma Award for Exceptional Teaching by a Student are PhD students in the Faculty of Mathematics.

The University of Waterloo Co-operative Education and Career Action (CECA) department recognizes one student from each faculty as Co-op Students of the Year.

45 students with offers of admission to MMath or PhD programs at the University of Waterloo gathered on campus for an open house today. Some came from as far away as Newfoundland, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Boston and Rochester, N.Y.

The Big E and Special K contests (PDF) were held on Saturday, November 3, 2012. These are mathematics contests for undergraduate University of Waterloo students.

The Special K contest is for first year students and the Big E contest is for upper year students. Both contests consist of six problems, and complete written solutions are required.

The University of Waterloo was selected to recruit a Canada Excellence Research Chair in the area of Security and Privacy for the New Digital Economy.

2012 Small c Mathematics Competition

On Friday, September 21, over 400 first and second year University of Waterloo students wrote the 12th annual Small c Mathematics Competition (PDF). It is a multiple-choice contest based largely on high-school mathematics.
