Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ramona Bobocel on being recognized as the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Contributions Award from the Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. This award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding and sustained contributions to the field of Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology in Canada. What an amazing and well-deserved achievement. A bit more about Ramona:
Dr. Ramona Bobocel has made profound and enduring contributions to I-O Psychology through her research on organizational justice and fairness. Her work has shaped the literature by shedding light on employees' perceptions and experiences of (un)fairness, including how (un)fairness affects employees' attitudes and behaviours, why unfairness persists in the workplace, and how fairness in the workplace can be promoted. Dr. Bobocel is also widely recognized for the societal and practical significance of her work. Some of her most highly cited papers addressing questions such as why people may be motivated to protect the status quo (instead of seeking societal/organizational change), why employees may be opposed to affirmative action (is it because they care about justice or are they simply prejudiced?), and other critical issues related to prejudice and (gender) discrimination that have had enduring relevance. Dr. Bobocel has published numerous papers in top-tier peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes) as well as numerous book chapters and a co-authored book. Her scholarly impact has been recognized with many awards and designations, including Fellow status in the American Psychological Society, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the Canadian Psychological Association, and the Association of Psychological Science. In addition to her research accomplishments, Dr. Bobocel is an exceptional mentor and supervisor whose many former undergraduate and graduate students have gone on to successful careers as academics and/or I-O practitioners.
Congratulations Ramona!
