WD grades
It is unlikely that a few WD grades will hinder opportunities such as a future co-op position, or for admission to graduate studies. That is, assuming that you otherwise meet the qualifications expected.
However, if you have several WD grades in consecutive terms, a reviewer of your transcript might wonder whether or not:
- you have unresolved issues that might hinder your future performance,
- you have learned from past mistakes,
- you understand your limitations.
Please note the WD deadline each term, if you drop a course after the WD deadline you will get a WF. A WF is worth 32% and will be included in your average.
PSYCH 292 (Basic Data Analysis) tips for success
PSYCH 292 is a required course for all Psychology Majors.
Suggestions for improving the likelihood of success:
-
Good study habits are important for mastering the course material and building your confidence.
-
Dedicate enough study time to the course. We generally recommend that students spend at least 9 to 15 hours per week per course (e.g., lectures, assignments, readings, preparation for tests and exams, etc.) to be successful. However, in the case of PSYCH 292, it might be necessary to spend 15 or more hours per week to master the course material.
-
Don't procrastinate. Each unit of a statistics course builds on the content of the previous unit. PSYCH 292 is not a course where you can cram through a bunch of material at the last minute and do well.
-
Attend lectures, tutorials (PSYCH 292) regularly. Enrolment in tutorials are typically capped at 30 to 40 students each so there will be lots of opportunity to ask questions. If you have questions that are not answered during the tutorials, contact the instructor or a teaching assistant.
