Geoffery Fong awarded Health Research Foundation Medal of Honour

Sunday, December 1, 2019

Please join me in congratulating Geoff Fong who was awarded the Health Research Foundation Medal of Honour at the HRF Gala Event in Montreal. The Medal of Honour is “awarded to remarkable individuals whose research or contributions to public policies supportive of research and development in Canada have achieved international recognition. All recipients have made pivotal contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the health sciences and/or the improvement of therapeutics healthcare.” You can see a full list of past recipients here https://innovativemedicines.ca/browse-by/health-research-foundation-hrf/awards  -- A list that includes Dr. Charles Best (1948), Dr. Wilder Graves Penfield (1958), and Brian Mulroney (2007).

Geoff was unable to attend the ceremony (because he was in Chongqing for a WHO/Johns Hopkins sponsored meeting with the Chinese National Health Commission). He was proud, though, to have his daughter Alexandra, a student at McGill, accept the award on his behalf.
