Tasked with caring for family members with special needs, young carers’ own needs are often overlooked by community agencies, according to researchers at Waterloo’s Murray Alzheimer Research and Education Program (MAREP). 

Erin Wong, a Kinesiology student (Pre-Health Professions Option) in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences has been recognized by the University of Waterloo as one of six 2014 University of Waterloo Co-op Student of the Year Awards.

Erin worked as a clinical research assistant at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for both her winter and spring 2014 work terms. She led the development of a research protocol for focused ultrasound that will significantly help in the treatment of bone metastases.
