The identification and investigation of matter, and how substances interact, combine, and change.
Up and atom!
Chemistry helps you understand the world around you, and will appeal to students who are curious, analytical, and love nitty-gritty details.
Ultimately, chemistry is about transformation; re-arranging the atoms in existing materials to provide the products we use everyday, as well as new and safer medications, alternative sources of energy, and the next generation of high-tech gadgets. The knowledge and skills of a chemist are in high demand because everything we have now, and for the foreseeable future, comes from atoms that exist in limited quantities here on Earth.
Career possibilities are endless, as studying chemistry doesn't just give you core knowledge, but it helps to develop problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
