Get your aprons ready, foodies! UW Food Services recently hosted a sizzling cooking show that had students drooling with excitement. Imagine watching skilled chefs whip up mouthwatering dishes right before your eyes - that's exactly what went down at Federation Hall. The star of the show? None other than the talented Executive Chef, Javier Alarco, who wowed the crowd with his culinary skills at the KISS (Keep It Simple Silly) Cooking show. Even more impressive? The meals were designed to be under $5 per portion. This means you can make a delicious, satisfying meal without having to breaking the bank!
But the fun didn't stop there. Chef Javier brought the laughter with comedic banter as he drafted an audience member to assist in the cooking demonstration. And the best part? The lucky volunteer got to sample the delicious Frittata before anyone else! The atmosphere was electric with students eager to taste the fresh and nutritious dishes expertly prepared by not just Chef Javier, but the other skilled chefs from our UW Food Services team as well.
The group of talented chefs showcased their culinary prowess by putting their unique twists on classic dishes. From Chef Denise's famous Eggroll in a Bowl to Chef Robert's inventive Naanza, each dish was a mini feast. Chef Mark's flavorful Kaali Dal and Chef Kylie's beloved overnight oats provided a delicious contrast to Chef Sean's hearty Beef and Pasta Skillet. And who could forget Chef Daniel's renowned Baked Mac and Cheese or Chef Javier's flavorful Tallarin Saltado con Pollo?
With such a diverse array of dishes, it was a culinary feast for the senses and a great opportunity for students to expand their knowledge of the culinary arts and pick up tips from experienced chefs. The event received raving reviews from the 269 students in attendance, setting an all-time high attendance record for any event hosted by UW Food Services. The attendees just couldn't get enough of the delicious food and the dynamic atmosphere.
