Spring Term Update: Food Services

Tuesday, April 21, 2020

Food Services, in partnership with Housing and the University of Waterloo has made the difficult decision that meal plans and dining services will not be offered for the Spring term and all residence dining halls will be closed until further notice. As of May 3, all Food Services locations will be closed.

Our dining halls are designed to serve thousands of students per day, which usually includes over 400 students on meal plans. As the Spring Term is being offered online only, and the majority of residence buildings will be closed, there will be significantly fewer students living on campus. Due to safety precautions for COVID-19, all students who will be living in residence, will be placed in suite-style, self contained rooms which provide kitchens so they are able to prepare their own meals.

Food Services will continue to support students with our Registered Dietitian and Executive Chef available as a resource during the term, and invite students in residence to reach out to them for support and guidance in food selection, preparation and best practices for cooking and food handling. We will also be offering cooking videos, webinars on best practices when grocery shopping and other tips and tricks for cooking and food preparation on our social media channels.
