Waterloo region ranks #7 in North America's top tech talent markets according to a new survey by CBRE, a global leader in commercial real estate. Jobs in tech roles grew 58% from 2021 to 2024, place Waterloo ahead of Vancouver, Montreal, and Ottawa.

And the good news isn't just for tech roles; more people work in sales, finance, and marketing than in software development. There was a 137% increase in people working in marketing over the previous 3 years between 2021 and 2024.

Waterloo's tech sector is also more diverse than many, giving underrepresented innovators a seat at the table.

Waterloo students are big contributors to the local tech market. With innovation hubs like Velocity and companies like Google, Apple, Amazon, and Square calling the region home, it's clear that Waterloo has earned its spot among the top ten tech talent markets in North America
