Planning Master's students Kaitlin Webber, Melissa Le Geyt, Theresa O’Neill and Vignesh Murugesan have partnered with the Community, Recreation and Culture Services department at the City of St. Catharines, Ontario to create Guiding Urban Forestry Policy into the Next Decade: A Private Tree Protection & Management Practice Guide.

We are delighted to announce that Markus Moos is taking on the role of Director for the School of Planning in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo. He is replacing Clarence Woudsma who has been in the role for 12 years. The School of Planning community, Faculty of Environment, and university community thank Woudsma for his service and dedication over these years.
The School of Planning would like to congratulate Joanne Fitzgibbons for receiving the Govenor General's Gold Medal - Masters for the University of Waterloo! This recognition is a real testament to the hard work Joanne put into her degree and the extremely high quality research carried out under the supervision of Dr. Carrie Mitchell.
The School of Planning offers our congratulations to David Pau for receiving the well-deserved Co-op Student of the Year Award for the Faculty of Environment! An exemplary student in PLAN 203 Transportation Planning, it is no surprise that he brought his passion with him during his first work term with the Region of Waterloo during the launch of the ION. The School of Planning would like to congratulate Drew Adams for receiving the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s Emerging Architect Award! This award recognizes early career achievement in design excellence, leadership and service.

Samantha Biglieri, Ph.D. student in the School of Planning, was recently a feature interview on the CBC program “Spark”. Samantha’s work is on the

intersection between planning and public health with a specific focus on how people with dementia navigate their communities on foot. It’s a fascinating examination of the role of the built environment and design and the livability and accessibility of our communities.
