As part of the Department of Psychology 2013-2014 colloquium series, you are invited to attend our next speaker, Dr. Pierre Jolicoeur from the University of Montreal.
Electrophysiological explorations of attention, memory, mind, and body.
Human electrophysiology has provided strong complementary evidence to that provided by psychophysics and other neurobiological measures, and enables a deeper and more complete understanding of fundamental mechanisms of attention and memory. I will summarize our recent work on mechanisms of visual short-term memory, visual attention, and auditory short-term memory, based on measurements of electric and/or magnetic fields produced by the human brain. And, I will briefly discuss how we are applying basic science in these areas to the study of mild traumatic brain injuries such as those involved in sports concussions.
