Police check and Tuberculosis (TB) test

In order for students to be able to complete an internship in the University of Waterloo Early Childhood Education Centre (ECEC), Westmount Public School, or other placement locations, it is required by law that students undergo a vulnerable sector police check. This must be completed prior to admittance in September. As the vulnerable sector police check can take 4-6 weeks, students should contact their local police department during the summer prior to admittance.

For students seeking a placement in the ECEC, the police check must be provided to the director, Valerie Rozon, within 30 days of receipt. Please contact ECEC Director Valerie Rozon directly (519-888-4567 x33904; vrozon@uwaterloo.ca) to arrange to drop off your police check and have it verified.

Students seeking placements in other locations will bring the vulnerable sector police check results to their internship location.

Students who are to complete an internship at the University of Waterloo's ECEC will be given a Pre-Employment Health form. This form will help them determine if a one-step TB test is required. Test results may take 4-6 weeks, so these students should contact their doctor or health centre during the summer prior to admittance once they have been notified that their internship will be with the ECEC.

Students completing an internship elsewhere are not required to take a TB test.
