Quantum Information and Curved Spacetimes: The adventure of Relativistic Quantum information (RQI)
In approximately an hour (measured in some reference frame) we will take a stroll around the muddy fields in which general relativity and quantum mechanics meet with information theory. We will shamelessly talk about very indecorous topics such as grad student life, warp drives, time travel, or even (god forbid!) thermodynamics. Hopefully by the end of it we will have some vague idea of the kind of things that people in the “relatively” new field of RQI do with their spare time, and if all goes well, it will hopefully feel like an hour well spent.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
