Welcome home!
Did you miss the 100% first-year guarantee for residence? Apply to our Vacancy Application to be next in line for available rooms.
How does it work?
If students do not accept their first-year guarantee residence contract, these rooms become vacant and are offered to students who apply through the vacancy application. Offers will go out dependent on vacant space throughout the summer. An offer of residence is not guaranteed, and we do not have a specific date for when offers will go out.
Applying is as easy as 1..2..3..4..
Step 1: Join the Vacancy Application
Click here to join the Vacancy Application.
(You will have the opportunity to let us know your residence building preferences on this form!)
Step 2: Check your @UWaterloo email address
Check your @uwaterloo.ca email account regularly for updates. If you are offered a room, your contract and room assignment will be emailed to your @uwaterloo.ca address.
Don't have a @uwaterloo.ca email address yet? In the meantime, any communications from the University of Waterloo and Campus Housing will be sent to the address we have on file (the one you applied to the OUAC application with).
Step 3: Accept your contract
If you are sent an offer, accept your contract and pay the $500.00 non-refundable deposit before the expiry date listed in your offer.
Step 4: You're in!
Congratulations! You’re about to have a great living experience with Campus Housing!
Frequently Asked Questions
WHERE AM I ON THE VACANCY WAITLIST?
Room offers will be sent as vacancies become available. Student type, gender, residence building preference and stream are all taken into consideration.
Offers for students on the vacancy waitlist will be sent out throughout the summer as spaces become available. We will send regular updates to your @uwaterloo.ca email address (or the email address you applied to the OUAC application with, if your Waterloo email address has not been set up) starting at the end of July and throughout August.
Please continue to monitor your email as our updates will also prompt you to let us know if you are still interested in living with Campus Housing, so we can get offers out quicker to students who are still looking for housing, As we take student type, gender, residence preference and stream into consideration, your spot on the waitlist may not indicate your likelihood to receive an offer and is not viewable by students.
When will I receive an offer for residence?
Room assignments will be sent out as rooms become available. They will be sent based on your date and time of application and continued expression of interest for a residence offer (throughout the summer you will receive emails from us asking if you are still interested; please keep an eye out for these emails as your response will help us get offers out quicker to students who are still looking to live in Campus Housing).
How will I know when I get an offer for residence?
Residence contracts will be emailed to your @uwaterloo.ca account. Be sure to check this account regularly, as the offer will have a set expiry date. Don't have a @uwaterloo.ca email address yet? Offers and information will be sent to the email address we have on file (the one you applied to the OUAC application with).
WHY CAN’T I CHOOSE A ROOMMATE ON THE VACANCY APPLICATION?
The option to request a roommate is available to students who completed the First-Year Guarantee Residence Application by June 1. Students who applied to the Vacancy Application are unable to request a roommate as room offers are based on available space left throughout the summer. We cannot guarantee a double room with both beds vacant or a suite-style residence with two beds vacant be available for students to live with a requested roommate.
HOW DO I SET UP OR CHECK MY @UWATERLOO.CA EMAIL ACCOUNT?
You will receive an email late June about setting up your UWaterloo email address. Can't find the email? Check out www.uwaterloo.ca/email for set-up instructions. You will not be able to set up your email until late June.
How do I accept my residence contract?
In your offer email, click the link and follow the steps provided to accept your residence offer and submit the $500 non-refundable deposit. Your offer is not considered complete until you complete all the steps and click finish at the end of the offer process.
What if I don't like my room assignment?
When you receive a room assignment offer, this is the only space that we have available and we will not be able to switch it for another. If you wish to live with Campus Housing and secure housing for the fall, you should accept the vacancy offer provided to you.
Room changes are not permitted before move-in as room assignments are offered based on availability. You will be sent an assignment based on the preferences you indicated on the vacancy application and the rooms that are available at the time your application is processed.
