Deadlines and important dates

Dates listed as tentative or pending will be updated when available from the Registrar's Office:

  • December 22, 2016 (noon) - deadline to submit your honours thesis to the Psychology Undergraduate Advisor (Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology PAS 3007) for marking. If an extension is required, please discuss with your thesis advisor and report the revised target date for completion to Emily no later than December 22. Pay close attention to the remaining dates particularly if an extension is requested.
  • March 1, 2017 - deadline to submit an Intent to Graduate Form for June 2017 convocation to the Registrar's Office.

'All you need to know about convocation' is on the Registrar's Office website.
  • May 10, 2017 - theses submitted after May 10, 2017 will NOT be considered for a 2017 thesis award.
  • deadline for convocation award nominations -  the tentative deadline  is May 18, 2017 but might be earlier (check back closer to the time for the actual date):
Each faculty nominates a student for the Governor General Silver Medal (university level) and the Alumni Gold Medal (faculty level). Each department in the Faculty of Arts nominates the top student from each department for the departmental award. Nominees for awards cannot have any outstanding grades (e.g., INC, NMR, or IP).
NOTE: Typically, only honours students who have final grades for all course work (including PSYCH 499A/B/C) by the first week of May can be considered for these awards. Students whose overall and psychology averages fall in the 88-100% range are strongly encouraged to adhere to the thesis submission deadline noted above.
  • Pending - check back (Home Faculty Arts) - last day to get a student's name on the convocation program. This means that degree requirements (including the PSYCH 499A/B/C grades) must be completed prior to this date in order for the student's name to appear in the convocation program because signatures from several advisors may be required before the graduation decision is official, and it may take a few days to collect those signatures and deliver the necessary paperwork to the Registrar's Office. The Registrar's Office also needs sufficient time to do the coding necessary on the student's record before the deadline. Keep in mind that the Registrar's Office is dealing with a heavy work load in the month of May.

The similar deadline for the Faculty of Science is pending.  Check back.
  • Pending - check back (Home Faculty Arts) - last day to approve a student's request to graduate for June 2017 convocation (i.e., signatures from the advisors of all of the student's academic plans). Note the date above regarding the convocation program.

The similar deadline for the Faculty of Science is pending.  Check back.
  • Convocation ceremony dates/times - go to the Registrar's Office website for the official details for the Spring (June) and Fall (October) convocations.
