Seminar 2: Engineering bioinks in 3D bioprinting

Bioprinting is an emerging additive manufacturing technique for generating patient-specific, implantable 3D constructs for biomedical applications. However, developing biocompatible bioinks with high printability, structural integrity, biodegradability, and bioactive properties remains a major challenge for translating 3D bioprinting techniques to preclinical and clinical models. The properties of bioink are significantly affected by the selected material and the printing parameters. As a result, they can be tuned to meet patient-specific and tissue-specific requirements. This seminar will focus on bioinks, one of the most important components of 3D printing, as well as their various material formulations and potential reinforcement strategies for bioink development.
